Making the most of your telehealth appointments 

Telehealth makes it easier than ever to connect with your Horizon Health care team from the comfort of home. No traffic, no waiting rooms, just quality care at your convenience. Here are a few practical tips to help you get the most out of your telehealth online consultations.

Before Your Appointment 

Check your connection: Ensure your phone or device is charged, your Wi-Fi or mobile signal is strong, and you’re in a quiet, private space.  

Have your details ready: Keep a list of your current medications, any recent health changes, and your Medicare card nearby. This helps your nurse or doctor make the most informed decisions during your appointment.  

During Your Consultation 

Be open and honest: Your clinician relies on the information you share to ensure your treatment plan is safe and effective. Be open about how your symptoms are progressing, how you’re feeling day-to-day, and any side effects or changes you’ve noticed. 

Raise any concerns: If you’re unsure whether your treatment is working as expected or have questions about your care plan, speak up. These discussions help your clinician tailor your treatment to your individual needs.  

Ask questions: It’s always appropriate to ask for clarification or more information about your condition or next steps. Healthcare is a partnership, and your input matters. 

Take notes: Jot down key points or recommendations during your appointment so you can refer to them later. 

After Your Appointment 

Prescription and pharmacy contact: If a prescription is provided, it will be sent to one of our partner pharmacies. The pharmacy team will contact you directly to arrange ordering, payment, and delivery if applicable.  

Allow time for processing: Some prescriptions may take up to 48 hours to appear in your patient portal or app while approval and dispensing steps are completed.  

Follow up if needed: If you haven’t heard from the pharmacy after two to three business days, reach out to them directly for an update.
